Farm Stay and Workers Accommodation and Facilities
Woolooga, Queensland
Housing101 had previously designed and constructed some challenging work for this client so we were glad to design and construct dual purpose workers and short break accommodation facilities on a large cattle property.
The initial brief was to provide a “barracks” type accommodation for workers during the week which could also be used for short stays over the weekend.
For this Housing101 provided a cost-effective solution by using a self-contained 4-person accommodation module from existing stock. A similar sized front section was added that can be used for living and a sleepout.
An amenities facility with a kitchen and lunchroom was built separately including a male and female toilet, showers and laundry. Several 15-amp power outlets were added for caravans and RV’s.
A large social area the “Happy Hour Hut” was built using recycled materials from a farmhouse on the property. This included a large central fire pit, pizza oven, BBQ area and basic kitchen. Additional work was requested including converting the old barn into stables, building solar battery and generator rooms, and designing and constructing a manager’s residence by also using transportable mining camp modules.
Housing101 provided in a short period and within budget, a very rustic and charming facility that is suitable for Farm Stay, family and friends and farm workers during the week.
Housing101 is also looking forward to building the ‘The Homestead’ on this property.
